Remember back a few years when we were on the crest of a wave that seemed like it would never stop? For several years we became so accustomed to good news and steady economic growth that there was really no skill in predicting the future.

A reduction in fees can add tens of thousands of dollars to your super balance. High fees can wipe out any performance advantage that one fund might have over another. So how important are fees to you? Do you check fees before choosing a fund?

How often does your fund communicate with you? Have they shown a desire to understand you and what you need? What do they do that you like? What would you like them to do better?

Does your fund offer products that other funds don’t? Does it lead the way or does it play me-too? How important is innovation to you?
