Investment. Asset allocation. performance. What the?

Every member of a super fund has the right to choose which of the fund’s investment styles they prefer. Usually these range from riskier investments (such as Equities) down to more secure investments (like Cash). Funds provide details of the available investment strategies in their PDS and online.

Generally, most funds have a default investment option, which is designed to meet the requirements of the majority of its members. If you don’t make a choice, you will be placed in the default investment option.

Remember, this may not necessarily be the best option for you. You really do need to think carefully about what you want from your super and how much risk you are prepared to take to get there.

SuperRatings track a handful of these investment options on a monthly basis. SuperSavvy update these monthly performance figures just 3 weeks after the end of each month. Members can use these indices as a benchmark in order to see how their fund is performing.
